Volunteer

Please consider volunteering for the Farming Life Centre – all help is greatly appreciated.

Volunteers are a valuable and essential part of The Farming Life Centre.  Details of our varied volunteer roles are given below.  For further information about the opportunities currently available and an informal chat, please contact Rachel Metcalfe; 01629 810903

  • Supporting Rural Social Groups

We have several groups around Derbyshire.  Throughout the year the groups enjoy listening to guest speakers, meeting for lunches and chatting and reminiscing over a cup of tea and a piece of cake.  You don’t have to have a farming background to get involved.  We value any support you can give – this might involve serving tea and coffee, chatting to our group members or even sourcing speakers for the groups.

  • Fundraising

We always need volunteers to support and even organise fundraising activities we are involved in.  This may entail assisting with the planning and organisation of an event, distributing posters, leaflets and even being at the event!  We are always delighted to hear from anyone who can organise a fundraising event in aid of The Farming Life Centre.

  • Project Support

The FLC has a number of ongoing projects.  There are opportunities for volunteers to be involved in a number of ways.  The Macmillan Rural Health Outreach Project supports rural residents and farming families who are affected by cancer or other life-limiting conditions – volunteers can be a good listening ear either by making visits or chatting with on the phone.  We are always trying to raise our profile amongst healthcare professionals and the wider community. This could involve volunteers visiting various organisations around the Peak district – sharing our story by giving talks, promoting our services and distributing leaflets.

  • Join The Board of Trustees

The Farming Life Centre is seeking dynamic and committed individuals to work with our Board of Trustees who support our ethos, share our vision and can promote the great work of the Charity.

We would welcome individuals who can help to grow our charity, extend our reach and improve the lives of local, rural and farming families across the Peak District and Staffordshire Moorlands.
