Information and support for rural people affected by ill-health and long term conditions
CAN WE HELP YOU?
The Macmillan Rural Health Outreach Service is here for you and for your carers, family and friends. It is coordinated by Jane Butler. You can talk in confidence to Jane, who is there to listen to your worries and concerns. Many people find that by simply talking through their situation they are able to discover new and better ways of coping.
CAN YOU HELP US ? we are looking for someone to fill Jane’s capable shoes – please contact the office for details
Jane hosts a fortnightly drop-in on market day at Bakewell Agricultural Business Centre where you can call in for a chat, a bit of light refreshment and pick up information on sources of support available in the local area. You can also see Jane at Leek and Holmfirth markets each month.
Our telephone befriending service is available to those who are housebound or feel isolated and would like regular telephone contact with a befriender.
All support is provided free of charge. For more information:

Our Macmillan Rural Health Outreach Service, funded by Macmillan, was founded in 2014 in partnership with Voluntary & Community Services Peaks & Dales. The Service has been put in place in recognition of the particular challenges faced by farming and rural people in Derbyshire when they are affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions. It is funded for two years, from April 2014-March 2016.
